A Thai business owner compares branch information across a map, location page, reviews and a readiness matrix before deciding what to fix

Local AI Visibility / Thailand

Your Google profile looks complete and the business has real reviews, yet an AI answer to “what is a reliable clinic or service near me?” names competitors first. The wrong response is to publish more posts or chase more reviews immediately. First determine which layer still fails to explain the relationship between your business, service, branch and location.

Direct answer: Local AI Visibility in Thailand does not come from Google Business Profile alone. A local business should align its branch details, services, service areas, website, genuine reviews and independent references, while keeping the site crawlable. Measure brand mentions, direct citations and recommendations separately. No amount of SEO, Schema or reviews can guarantee that ChatGPT or another AI assistant will recommend a business every time.

What does Local AI Visibility mean?

Local AI Visibility is the readiness of the information and evidence that helps an AI system understand who a business is, what it provides, where it operates and which local questions it can answer. Examples include “a clinic near me that opens after work” or “an industrial repair company serving factories in Samut Prakan.”

Local SEO normally begins with visibility in Google Search and Maps. Local AI Visibility adds another layer: an assistant may search the web, rewrite a query, use an approximate or precise location and combine multiple sources before responding. OpenAI explains that ChatGPT Search can use location to improve local recommendations and that there is no way to guarantee top placement. Read how ChatGPT Search works.

A local AI visibility audit should therefore not try to force an AI recommendation. It is to make the business accurate, consistent, accessible and sufficiently evidenced for both systems and buyers to evaluate.

Why is Google Business Profile important but insufficient?

Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence, and advises businesses to verify their profiles and keep information complete and accurate. Review Google’s local ranking guidance. That makes the profile a critical foundation, but not the whole answer to AI local SEO Thailand.

Search and AI systems may also encounter a company’s website, local directories, reviews, partner pages, news and other corroborating sources. A profile can be well maintained while the website still fails to explain which services are available at which branch, leaving weak evidence for a specific buyer question.

Vault Mark’s Google Business Profile guide for the AI era covers profile management. This article owns a different decision: when competitors are recommended and your brand is not, which layer should be fixed first?

Vault Mark Local AI Visibility Readiness Matrix

Method status: The matrix below is a Vault Mark professional methodology for prioritising an audit. It is not an official ranking factor, a statistical market benchmark or a guarantee of an AI mention, citation or recommendation.
Score each layer from 0 to 2: 0 = absent or conflicting; 1 = present but incomplete or inconsistent; 2 = clear, aligned and verifiable.
Readiness layer Decision question Evidence to inspect Score
1. Eligibility & Ownership Is the business eligible, and does the real operator control the profile? A real customer-facing location or service area, authorised owner access, no ineligible virtual office or duplicate profile 0–2
2. Profile Relevance Do the name, category, services, hours and area match what buyers ask? Complete information, specific categories, current hours, accurate branch images and services 0–2
3. Website Confirmation Does the website confirm the profile and explain each location? A dedicated location page with matching address, phone, hours, services, area and contact path 0–2
4. Local Trust & Corroboration Is there current, genuine evidence beyond the business’s own claims? First-hand reviews, relevant directories, local organisations, partner or editorial references with consistent facts 0–2
5. Measurement & Governance Can the team tell which questions lead to discovery, calls, directions or qualified enquiries? A prompt baseline, GBP actions, GA4/CRM data, named owners and a review cadence 0–2

0–3: Foundation risk

Do not begin with content volume. Resolve eligibility, ownership, duplicate profiles and conflicting branch facts first.

4–7: Disconnected evidence

Some assets exist, but the profile, website, reviews, external sources and measurement do not confirm the same business truth.

8–10: Ready for controlled testing

Test a stable panel of local questions across platforms and locations. This score still does not guarantee an AI recommendation.

Decision rule

Fix the lowest-scoring layer that affects business truth, not the layer that is easiest to deliver or most impressive in a report.

In what order should a Thai local business fix Local AI Visibility?

1. Confirm eligibility and real ownership for every location

Google generally requires an eligible Business Profile to represent a business that makes in-person contact with customers at a location or travels to customers. Online-only brands and some lead-generation operations are ineligible. Review the Business Profile policy overview.

Before optimising anything, check owner access, duplicates, permanently closed locations, virtual offices and branches that do not have staff serving customers. More posts or Schema will not repair a false foundation.

2. Make the profile match the real world and the buyer’s question

Use the name displayed in the real world, select the fewest specific categories required, and maintain accurate hours, service areas, contact methods and location-specific services. Google warns against adding marketing claims, service terms or place names to a business name when they are not part of the real name, and recommends one eligible profile per business or location. Read Google’s representation guidelines.

“Complete” is not the same as “relevant.” A clinic offering evening appointments needs accurate hours and a page that confirms the service at that branch; a broad category alone should not carry the entire meaning.

3. Build a location or service-area page that confirms the same facts

Each customer-facing branch should have a URL that explains its name, address, telephone number, hours, core services, travel information and material restrictions. Write it for a buyer. Do not manufacture dozens of thin city pages that only swap place names.

If the site has crawl, canonical, thin-content or branch-separation defects, repair its on-page, technical and experience SEO before expanding content. Use a coherent Local SEO structure to connect each profile with the correct location page.

4. Use structured data to describe truth, not invent it

Google’s LocalBusiness documentation says the markup can describe opening hours, departments and other business details, and notes that it generally makes sense on a page containing information about that business. Read the LocalBusiness structured-data documentation.

Do not declare branches, services, reviews or coverage that users cannot see on the page. A general editorial article should not receive LocalBusiness Schema merely because it discusses local businesses. This article should use Article and BreadcrumbList; location pages should carry the appropriate LocalBusiness subtype where the visible facts support it.

5. Build trust from genuine customer experience

Ask customers with real experience to review the business and respond without exposing personal information. Google states that offering free or discounted goods or services in exchange for posting, changing or removing a review is fake engagement and prohibited. Review Google’s guidance on getting reviews.

Also check relevant associations, partner sites, local directories, news and community resources. The objective is not citation volume. It is consistent, independently observable information about the name, location, service and expertise.

6. Keep the website accessible to search systems and buyers

Google says established SEO best practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode and that no special optimisation guarantees inclusion. Read Google’s AI-features guidance. OpenAI similarly states that a site must allow OAI-Searchbot to crawl it to be eligible for inclusion in ChatGPT Search, while top placement cannot be guaranteed.

Check robots rules, CDN or firewall restrictions, status codes, canonical tags, indexability, mobile usability and answerable page sections. Effective AI Search Optimization starts with access and source truth, not by adding “AI” terminology to an existing page.

Which symptom points to which first fix?

Use observable symptoms to choose the first layer to inspect. Do not treat this table as a diagnosis without reviewing the actual data.
Observed symptom Likely gap to inspect First action Evidence of improvement
A branded search shows the wrong branch details The profile, website and third-party sources conflict Inventory sources and correct those with clear ownership first Name, address, hours and phone align across primary sources
The business appears in Maps but not for a specific service question Categories or pages fail to express the service-location relationship Correct categories/services and build a useful branch page The relevant page appears for non-brand demand and answers become more accurate
AI recommends a competitor with fewer reviews The issue may involve relevance, distance, coverage or the test prompt—not review count Compare entities, landing pages and external evidence; do not chase bought reviews Identified gaps decline across a stable panel of prompt variations
One branch appears while another does not Profiles, location pages or branch facts differ in quality Run a branch-by-branch audit and separate facts and tracking correctly Each location has aligned data and measurable actions
Visibility rises but calls and directions do not The decision information, offer fit, conversion path or tracking is weak Review calls to action, service fit, hours, disclosed conditions and tracking Clicks, calls, directions and qualified enquiries can be linked to the page or location

Practical scenario: two Bangkok clinic branches receive different AI visibility

Consider a clinic with Asok and Bang Na branches. Both profiles have reviews, but the website uses one page with mixed telephone numbers and opening hours. Several directories use inconsistent branch names. Marketing wants more reviews; the web team wants more Schema.

A defensible order of work is:

  1. Verify eligibility, account ownership and the real facts for each branch.
  2. Create separate Asok and Bang Na pages with the correct name, address, hours, telephone number, services and decision questions.
  3. Link each profile to its matching page and correct high-value directories.
  4. Add the appropriate LocalBusiness subtype to each branch page, matching visible content.
  5. Request genuine reviews without incentives or prescribed wording.
  6. Test service + area + time + constraint prompts and record answers and sources.

This scenario concerns business-information visibility only. It is not medical advice and does not evaluate treatment quality.

How should Local AI Visibility be measured?

Separate three outcomes:

  • Brand mention: the assistant names the business without showing the business or Vault Mark URL as a cited source.
  • Direct citation: the response displays the business page or article URL as a source.
  • Recommendation: the assistant proposes the business as a suitable provider for the question.

Do not combine them into one inflated score. Record the platform, language, prompt, date, test location, answer, cited URL, competitors and factual errors. Then connect those observations to controllable actions such as website clicks, calls, direction requests, forms and qualified enquiries.

Google now supports linking Business Profile to Google Analytics to view aggregated metrics such as interactions, website clicks, calls and directions, with stated limitations for location-level segmentation and historical data. Review the integration and its limitations. For executive reporting, connect Local AI Visibility to an AI marketing analytics and measurement system, rather than treating a mention screenshot as a business outcome.

A 30–60–90-day control cadence

  • 30 days: close ownership, eligibility, profile and branch-information conflicts.
  • 60 days: verify crawl and index status, source consistency and answer accuracy using the same prompt panel.
  • 90 days: compare mentions, citations, recommendations and qualified enquiries using a consistent test method.

These are management checkpoints, not a promise that an AI system will recommend the business within 90 days.

Which mistakes create risk or make results impossible to interpret?

  • Stuffing services and locations into the profile name when they are not part of the real business name
  • Creating duplicate profiles, virtual branches or thin city pages to manufacture coverage
  • Offering incentives for reviews or instructing customers to repeat the same keyword-rich wording
  • Adding LocalBusiness Schema to every page, even where no real location information is visible
  • Drawing a conclusion from one prompt, one user, one location or one screenshot
  • Assuming every AI product uses Google Business Profile directly and in the same way
  • Buying a Local SEO execution package before identifying whether the gap is in the profile, website, evidence or measurement

Frequently asked questions about Local AI Visibility

Does ChatGPT use Google Business Profile directly?

Do not assume that it does in every response. OpenAI says ChatGPT Search may search the web, work with search and local-information providers and use location to improve relevance. A business should therefore align multiple credible sources instead of relying on one profile.

Will more reviews make AI recommend the business?

Not necessarily. Reviews are one form of prominence and customer evidence, but relevance, distance, website information, corroborating sources and the wording of the question also matter. More reviews cannot repair incorrect branch data.

Can an online-only business create a Google Business Profile?

Google generally requires in-person customer contact at a location or at the customer’s location. Online-only brands and some lead-generation operations are ineligible. Check the current policy and the business model before creating or claiming a profile.

Is LocalBusiness Schema required for an AI recommendation?

No. Markup can clarify information already visible on a page, but it does not create eligibility, trust or a guaranteed recommendation. Use it on a genuine business or location page and validate the implementation.

How many months does it take to be recommended?

There is no fixed timeline. Crawling, indexing, source updates, user location, prompts and AI systems vary. Use 30–60–90-day checkpoints to measure readiness and changes without presenting them as a performance guarantee.

How should a multi-location business handle its branches?

Give each eligible location a matching profile and location page, maintain real-world naming and category consistency, separate its address, telephone number and hours, and avoid creating branches without staff or real customer service.

Assumptions and limitations

  • This article explains readiness and decision logic. It does not disclose the proprietary ranking factors of Google, OpenAI or another AI provider.
  • Local results can change by time, location, language, user context, source availability and platform.
  • Google Business Profile eligibility and industry-specific policies should be checked at implementation time.
  • The clinic scenario concerns business information only and is not medical advice or an endorsement.
  • The Readiness Matrix is a Vault Mark professional methodology and has not been statistically validated as a market benchmark.

The next decision for Local AI Visibility in Thailand

When the problem is clearly ownership, opening hours, a location page or a review-policy violation, fix that defect first and retest the same prompt panel. When the profile, website, external sources and measurement conflict across several layers, buying more execution can increase cost without explaining the cause.

When the priority is unclear: use the Customer Growth Blueprint to identify which constraint should be addressed first, which evidence is required and how change should be measured. Execution should then follow the sequence Diagnose → Recommend → Install → Steward → Expand, only as far as the evidence supports.
